Increase in new tractor registrations

6,142 new tractors were registered in the UK during the first six months of this year, 14% up on the 5,382 units recorded during the same period last year. Figures just out from the AEA confirm that total tractor power (50hp+) sold in the UK during the first half of 2017 of just over one million HP is a 17% increase against the same period in 2016.

Average horsepower (163.1hp) represented a further rise (2.9%) in the year. Most horsepower bands saw increases in the number of units registered during the first half of this year, with the exception of those between 100 and 120hp. The fastest growth was in the middle of the power range, between 140 and 200hp, which increased by nearly a third.

Most regions of the UK recorded increased registrations, with the exception of North East England, where there was a decrease, and the South East, Home Counties and East Midlands, where there was little change. Among the biggest increases were those in the South West and Eastern England, which combined took 1,862 tractors are the two leading regions for registrations.
