On the SIMA catwalk |
For many visitors, the star of this week's SIMA show, Paris, is New Holland's NH2 Concept tractor. Based on a T6000 model, the hydrogen-powered machine takes advantage of fuel-cell technology. Put simply, New Holland's vision is that electricity produced on farm - from biomass, waste, solar or wind power - is used to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen can then be employed within the tractor's fuel cells to provide electrical energy. NH2 is a fully functioning tractor with electrically-driven CVT and pto, and New Holland says it will be in production within five years.
