New life for old Holmers

Terra Transport makes use of old but refurbished Holmer beet harvesters as an alternative carting option to conventional tractors and trailers. Main advantage, says the firm, is that the old harvester increases output and reduces soil damage in conditions that are often wet underfoot, largely due to the harvester’s wide tyres (80cm fronts, 109cm rears) and ability to ‘dog-leg’ down the field. Refurbed machines are typically from around 1998/1999 and modified to give a 25km/hr top speed; bin capacity is increased to 20t. Holmer Terra Transport is priced at £79,000.
