Maxtor gets a lower cost brother

With a faster travel speed and the option to fit turbine or roller cleaning systems – not to mention a likely list price advantage of around €30,000 – Grimme hopes the Rexor will capture a bigger slice of sugar beet harvester sales than the tracked and wheeled Maxtor has achieved. "There's no doubt that the Maxtor works well," says Ralph Powell of Grimme UK. "It's just that the relatively slow road speed and its price hold it back." Fashioned more conventionally to run on four big tyres, the Rexor 620 can clock up 40kph on the road. In the field, its articulated chassis and steering axles give it a 7.5m turning radius – pretty tight for such a mammoth of a machine – and crab steering to spread its considerable weight. List price of the Rexor is €376,000.
