Giant four-rotor rake from Austria

An infinitely adjustable working width range is claimed for a new four-rotor rake from Austrian manufacturer Pöttinger. Badged the EuroTop 1252C, the rake offers working widths from 8m to 12.5m. Which, according to Pöttinger, means the machine can be narrowed sufficiently to produce a manageable swath in very heavy first-cut crops, yet it still retains a full 12.5m capability to maximise outputs in lighter cuts. The rake's second stand-out feature is that it incorporates a hybrid drive system, comprising an onboard hydraulic drive for the front two rotors, with mechanical drive delivered to the rear rotors. Key benefits here are said to be a reduced number of shafts and the facility to lower the front rotors on to the chassis to result in a sub-4m transport height. Critically, this transport height is achieved without having to remove tine arms from any of the rotors.
