Big baler range has a baby

The new Hesston-built Massey Ferguson 2140, which pumps out 800mm wide x 700mm high bales, joins the company's MF 2100 large square baler family. Said to be capable of handling straw, silage, hay and haylage, the 2140 shares many of its features with other models in the range, including on-board independent hydraulics and MF's trademark double knotter system. Following crop flow through the machine, entry is via a new four-auger pick-up; then through an optional cutter – chop lengths of 192mm, 96mm, 48mm and no chop – and into the pre-pack chamber; before finally heading into the main chamber, where the plunger operates at 42 strokes/min. Down below there's a choice of single or tandem axle.
