Agritechnica: Big blast packs in extra forage

Agritechnica: Big blast packs in extra forage

Hawe has developed a forage transfer trailer with a difference. It has its own blower unit and chute, which are reckoned to cram up to 20% more crop into waiting trucks.
The system is based around the German manufacturer's standard 40m³ tandem-axle and 50m³ tridem-axle forage trailers. Main difference is that this new design incorporates an additional beater unit and blower at the front.
In operation, the transfer trailer's chain and slat floor is reversed to bring the crop to the front of the body, where the blower unit underneath sets the crop off on its journey. A secondary blower builds momentum, allowing the 50m³ version to shift its 33t of cargo in less than 5mins.
The chute can swivel 200° so crop is blasted into every corner of the truck trailer. According to Hawe, it's this swivelling blast that enables its design to deliver a greater load capacity over transfer trailers that simply dump the crop in. Another benefit is the increased stability over high transfer trailers that have to be able to reach into the truck.
The 50m³ SUW5000 needs 260hp up front, and both models are shod with 700/50 R26.5 tyres.
